We need communities with amenities and high quality of life to retain and attract talented people. These people want walk about, bike-able communities to call home and would be inclusive to all. Walk ability is key to economic development and promotes a better physical activity and healthy life. Things in our society are changing. No longer do people want drive-able communities like the past generation. They want walk-able communities where you don’t have to own a car. These Green Cities would improve a person’s quality and length of life.
Multiple story community living communities with spirit of community, shared outdoor spaces for all ages, sharing of active public spaces, for gathering, performances or workshops etc., so people can interact in common interests with one another. These new urban designs with Free-flowing streets will flow better for the betterment of alleviating traffic congestion.
That takes advantage of merge and flow street designs. These new street designs will eliminate the number of intersections, traffic lights, stop signs, that are common with block square design, making it simpler for all types of vehicles, autonomous or not to negotiate the roads, getting people to their destinations easily and smoother, with few traffic backups produced with a stop and go traffic of city block designs.
I am seeing that as we move further into the use of autonomous vehicles, it will be discovered that these types of street designs will give these new vehicles less vulnerability of any type of accidents and the smoother flow of traffic with very minimal traffic congestions if any. New neighborhoods designed for streetcars, cars, bikes and walking. Where kids can move about a community without worry, with no mingling of vehicle types in one travel lane, we should work to build blue zones in physical and healthy ways. Developing healthy, lively populations, which it turns out, creates happy living cities.
These new urban areas will have their own power sources, homes, business with their own solar and small wind generators & passive solar heating and cooling with a nearby Micro Grid as back up for high usage times and bad
